Toronto Auto Show

Toronto Auto Show - Eco Friendly Sexy cars from around the world roared their engines while taking centre stage at the 38th annual Canadian International Auto Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. CitylifeTV.ca switched gears to bring you the latest cars, trucks and crossovers from ferocious to eco-friendly, all of them featuring exceptional, innovative edge.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford cut the ribbon on Feb. 18, 2010, to kick off the 38th annual 10-day affair, which typically turns almost a quarter of a million car lovers into a close-knit community. With 1,000 cars and trucks presented and approximately $30 million worth of the world’s most exquisite automobiles (not including the Classic Car Exhibit), the Canadian International Auto Show boasts more spectators than any other consumer show in Canada.

This year’s Canadian International Auto Show saw dozens of pristine cars make their presence known on the world stage for the very first time. Some of the exciting premieres included: Audi A1, Ford Mustang Boss 302HR, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2011, Mini Paceman, Nissan Leaf, Subaru Hybrid Tourer, BMW 1 Series M Coupe and BMW 6 Series Cab. “We also have the exciting new CLS-Class,” says Christopher Goczan, national product manager of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “We’ve premiered it in Montreal but we’re also showing it here as well. For me, anyways, it was a pleasant surprise because when you saw the original car you looked at it and you wondered, ‘how can they do it again? How can lightning strike twice?’ And it really has and it's really the evolution – it's the next step of what everybody expected of Mercedes-Benz,” he adds.

Advancements in environmental and innovative technology were a major theme at this year’s International Auto Show, with hybrids and electric cars never more than a head turn away. The evolution of the auto industry has all signs pointing not only towards economic recovery, but also towards a much greener road.
