Kimberley Newport-Mimram marries high fashion and function and is now housing it under one roof. As the designer and president of Pink Tartan, this fashionista recently opened Seventy Seven – her label’s first r flagship store in well-dressed Yorkville. Nestled in a heritage building from 1867, Seventy Seven is anything but ordinary. “I wanted to create an experience in the store,” says Newport-Mimram. Using modern designers and inspiration from her travels, this visionary transformed a vintage space into a luxury shop. “It’s about the touch, the sight, the sound, the experience, the flavours.”

Seventy Seven is home to everything she loves. With items that are not only Pink Tartan, this store provides people with a unique shopping experience. Exquisite décor, beautiful flowers and meticulously dressed mannequins make the atmosphere of this store inviting, if not irresistible. “I always think it’s nice to come into a store and be pleasantly surprised,” says Newport-Mimram, staying true to that belief with her exceptional selection.

Showcased at LG Fashion Week, Pink Tartan’s fall/winter 2011 collection is what Newport-Mimram likes to call, ‘couturatarian.’ “It was a mix of utility wear and couture.” Incorporating crisp and clean lines, this designer creates pieces that are feminine with a rebellious edge.  One staple item that Newport-Mimram swears by is the collared white shirt. “We call it the Newport shirt, because it’s always in the collection.” Changing with every season, this simple shirt is a must-have for any woman’s wardrobe.

Working with unique fabrics such as vintage parachute silk, Newport-Mimram knows how to push the limit in fashion, while still creating wearable pieces.
