At Our Table

For eight years and counting, At Our Table events have been raising money for the social, educational, and health-care needs of women and children in Israel and Canada. On May 30, 2011, event co-chairs Gayle Goldgut, Robin Turack and Linda Friedlich unveiled Jewels of the City – a chic fundraiser held at a luxury Bridle Path home in Toronto.

With 200 women in attendance, the night was a great success. The Tzedakah Chapter women helped put together this extravagant affair, which raised close to $95,000 for Canadian Hadassah-WIZO, Canada’s leading Jewish women’s philanthropic organization. “This is an event of women, for women,” says Turack. With jazz musicians and a spectacular magician, the evening garnered successful and fashionable ladies from all around the city. Guests included Michelle Zerillo-Sosa, publisher of Dolce Vita and City Life magazines, as well as the president and CEO of Downtown Fine Cars Inc., Helen Ching-Kircher, who recently received the 2011 HSBC Great Canadian Woman Award.   

Sponsored by Downtown Fine Cars Inc., the event featured thousands of dollars in prizes, as well as a fabulous silent auction. “We’re all adorned tonight by different jewelers,” says Turack, referring to the sparkling jewels worn by each co-chair. Every exceptional jewelry piece was up for auction throughout the night, including the pieces modelled by the lovely organizers. With the help of generous donors, supporters, and guests, Jewels of the City was able to make a grand impact on women and children in need. “We’ve had incredible support from the community,” says Goldgut.

With many chapters throughout the country, these inspirational women want everyone to help make a difference. “Contact CHW, Canadian Hadassah-WIZO, to find out where your local chapter is in your local community,” says Turack. “And get involved with the women that are there and make lifetime friends.”
